RQ 1

(October 2022)

How can we facilitate effective and equitable ways of engagement and knowledge exchange between design researchers, other disciplines, and non-academics.

RQ 2

How does language and writing style play a part in making engagement and knowledge exchange effective and equitable?

RQ 3

How do we measure the hidden and invisible? The work done before the project, the chats over coffee, the listening, the creation of trust that enables future collaborations?

RQ 1

(April 2022)

What are the most effective and equitable ways of engagement in order to earn trust between design researchers and those they want to work with and/or for?

RQ 2

Through an exploration of design literature such as participatory design, and concepts such as empowerment, mutual learning, and safe spaces, can we understand how the language we use affects power dynamics and partnerships between design researchers those they work with and/or for?

RQ 3

Can we use this information to build a tool, or set of tools, which not only facilitates equitable engagement and knowledge exchange, leading to trust and future collaborations, but also are transferable to other departments, universities, and external stakeholders?
